My devotional time has had me camped out in the book of Exodus where I came across some verses that have lit a fire in me. I know I’ve read them before; however, this time it has become so real to me.

Exodus 3:13-15

But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?” God replied to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM…I AM has sent me to you…Yahweh, the God of your ancestors-the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob…This is my eternal name.

I began to think about the meaning of a “name”.

What happens when you hear or think of a person’s name?

  • Specific images are conjured in your mind.
  • The person’s character, personality and traits flow through your mind.
  • A positive or negative reaction happens.

The meaning of my name is “butterfly”. My whole life I thought how dull and meaningless. I was always embarrassed to voice the meaning of my name. While with a group of ladies, the meaning of names was being discussed.  I began to explain the meaning of my name and one of the ladies shouted out – that is so you! A butterfly flits from place to place. She quickly and eagerly began to compare our characteristics. Flitting for me, means going from person to person or from activity to activity taking care of things. At that moment, I realized the meaning of my name was true and meaningful. The meaning did not change, I did. I began to notice that butterflies were everywhere after that moment. Pandora even has a whole section of charms devoted to butterflies. I am happy to say that many of the butterfly charms hang on my charm bracelet.

The name “I-AM” became my focus. It’s in all caps. In the texting world, all caps means that it is very important, as if someone is screaming it out. The meaning is I AM THAT I AM. We have absolutely everything we could possibly need, want, or imagine in I AM. I AM is enough!!!!

What has the I AM spoken to you?

-Something so HUGE that your mind may not be able to comprehend it?
-Something so BIG that fear has set in your heart?
-Something so HARD that you think it would be impossible to accomplish?
-Something so CRAZY that you think it’s foolish?

When the I AM speaks to you:

  • He will give you the power associated with HIS name!
  • He will give you all the tools needed to complete the task!
  • It will come to fruition, if we believe.

Be encouraged and step out in the power of the name of the great I AM.

There is power in His Name!!!!
