When the presence of God is the foundation, growth becomes inevitable.
In 1997, with nothing but a clear sense of calling and a small group of people gathered in faith, Dave and Donna Patterson planted The Father’s House in Vacaville, California. There was no blueprint. No large support system. Just a deep conviction that God wanted to build something life-giving in their city.
What began with eight people in a room quickly turned into a growing community meeting in an elementary school, then a community center, then multiple services as God continued to draw people in. As the church grew, it became clear this wasn’t just about one city. People were driving from neighboring towns. The vision expanded. New campuses were launched. Church plants followed. Doors kept opening.
Today, The Father’s House includes multiple campuses, church plants, and a powerful prison ministry reaching all across California. But ask Pastor Dave what sustained the growth for nearly three decades, and his answer is simple: the presence of God.
This story is a reminder that strategies matter, training matters, and preparation matters, but nothing replaces time in the secret place. For church planters and leaders, Pastor Dave shares a clear encouragement: hear God clearly, get His heart for your city, and step out with boldness knowing He has already gone before you.
In addition to pastoring The Father’s House, Pastor Dave faithfully serves on the Lead Team at ARC. His leadership and The Father’s House’s commitment to giving toward ARC reflect a deep belief that the Church grows stronger when we build together. Their generosity helps fuel the planting of life-giving churches around the world so more people can encounter Jesus and experience the presence of God in their own cities. We are deeply grateful for their Kingdom-minded generosity and the lasting impact it continues to make.
Watch The Father’s House Church Story and be encouraged by what God can do when His presence is the priority. Even after 28 years, they are just getting started!
